Idiots anda rant about them

It's funny that so many people are opposed to the Stimulus package put forth by our heroes in government. No, it is not funny that people don't trust our fearless leaders, it is however funny that so many people use phrases like "not enough", and question how building certain things will build our economy, and other things will do nothing for us as a nation. I AM NOT AN ECONOMICS EXPERT. However, I am fairly intelligent. It is so easy to bash a project and offer no viable solution. In my fraternity we carried a poem which basically reminded us that it is so easy to be critical of someone else, but, that is not what is productive. Are we active members, or do we just belong? I have heard several people now mock the $13-$16 per week that the bill will provide the avg person, now I ask you (mockers that is) this....How much is enough? We would all like to see a magical $100 to $200 per month or better, per week, but where would that kind of money come from? Isn't that the same kind of imaginary money that got us into trouble in the first place? Was it people taking money out of things like the inflated values of homes (you know, you bought it for 100k someone said it was worth 150k, so you now take a home equity loan for 25k only to find out that your house will sell for only 100k...not exactly but you get the point.) So now I ask again where would this money come from? The $65 or so per month doesn't seem like a lot, but it seems doable without later finding out that the money comes from fairy dust. Being realistic and currently very broke, I see that $65 as about 1/3 of my total heating bill. That means that I would potentially have to cover 1/3 less of that bill. That is $65 more for food, or electricity. To anyone who is only being affected on paper, you know, your stocks lost $50k in value but your bills are all paid...that $65 is not a lot. To the salesperson who was making $80k a year with 4 children and a mortgage that is one less part of a bill that they must worry about. Bigger still, to the single parent of 3 who pulls down a whopping $45k per year $65 would be a god send. Realistically all of those people will probably receive a different amount of money per month, but, any extra money will be greatly appreciated by us lower folks. In fact, $65 extra would allow me to take my niece to the zoo. To do that I would have to by gas, food, tickets, souvenirs. In other words stimulate our economy. So yes, that lil bit can do a lot.
